Job Opportunities for Commissioned Officers in Navy
Bangladesh Navy has released a recruitment notification for the post of Directly Commissioned Officer in 2023-B DEO batch. According to the notification, manpower will be appointed in total four branches of the Navy. Interested candidates can apply online till January 10.
Branches in which recruitment
Manpower will be recruited in Engineering and Electrical Branch, Supply Branch, Education Branch and Education Branch (Engineer). Among them, only male candidates can apply in engineering and electrical branches. Both men and women can apply in the supply and education branches.
Eligibility of Application
For applications in Engineering and Electrical branches, B.Sc Engineering in Naval Architecture/Mechanical/Electrical and Electronics from a recognized university should be passed. Candidate should obtain minimum GPA-4.50 in both SSC & HSC examination and CGPA-3.00 (on 4 scale) in BSc Engineering. Candidate must be single. Applicant age should be below 28 years as on 1 July 2023. After the final nomination in this branch, the candidate will be given short-term or permanent commission as a commissioned officer in the post of ‘Acting Sub Lieutenant’.
Must have Honors or BBA Degree in Commerce/Statistics/Economics from a recognized University to apply in Supply Branch. Candidate should obtain minimum GPA-4.50 in Science section in both SSC & HSC examination and CGPA-3.00 (on scale of 4) in graduation examination. Candidate must be single. Candidate age should be below 28 years as on 1st July 2023. After the final nomination in this branch, the commission will be given for five years in short-term commission in the post of ‘Acting Sub Lieutenant’ as a commissioned officer. Later on the application of the officer and consideration of the authority will be given extension of service or permanent appointment as per rules.
For applying in education branch, one should have graduation degree in Bengali, English, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Psychology and Law from a recognized university. Candidate should obtain minimum GPA-4.00 in both SSC and HSC examination and minimum CGPA-3.00 (on scale of 4) in graduation examination. Married/ Unmarried candidates are acceptable. In the case of legal candidates, preference will be given to candidates with practical experience in the legal profession along with the Bangladesh Bar Council’s Advocateship Certificate. Applicant age must be below 30 years as on 1 July 2023. Age limit is relaxable in case of Barrister/PhD degree holders in Law. After the final nomination in this branch, the candidate will be commissioned as a commissioned officer in the post of ‘Acting Instructor Sub Lieutenant’ on short term / permanent commission for a period of five years. Later on the application of the officer and consideration of the authority will be given extension of service or permanent appointment as per rules.
For application in education stream (Engineering) should have Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture from a recognized university. Candidate should obtain minimum GPA-4.50 in both SSC and HSC examination and minimum CGPA-3.00 (on scale of 4) in graduation examination. Married/ Unmarried candidates are acceptable. Applicant age must be below 30 years as on 1 July 2023. After the final nomination in this branch, the candidate will be commissioned as a commissioned officer in the post of ‘Acting Instructor Sub Lieutenant’ on short term / permanent commission for a period of five years. Later on the application of the officer and consideration of the authority will be given extension of service or permanent appointment as per rules.
Physical Qualification for all disciplines
Male height 5 feet 4 inches, weight 50 kg, chest size 30 inches normal and expanded 32 inches. Women’s height is 5 feet 2 inches, weight is 47 kg, chest size is 28 inches in normal and 30 inches when expanded. Being overweight on the scale prescribed for armed forces according to height and age will be disqualified.
Selection process
Preliminary health test and preliminary interview will be held from 23rd to 26th January 2023 at Naval College Dhaka, Mirpur 14. Candidates shortlisted in preliminary health examination and preliminary interview will undergo a written test on intelligence (except engineering and electrical branches and education branch engineering), English, general knowledge and studies. Candidates who qualify the written test will be tested and interviewed by ISSB at Inter-Army Selection Council, Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka. Candidates will have to participate in the final health examination during the ISSB examination. After that the final nomination will be given to the candidate through an interview to be held at the Naval Headquarters.
